Liverpool completes historic treble!

English club Liverpool has been dominating the EN region for the last six to seven seasons. But it had struggled to win the much-vaunted Wes Cup, the most elite trophy in the football world. However, trophies are like buses --- you wait a long time and then two come along at once. 

This has been the case with Liverpool. The club won its first Wes Cup in more than 20 seasons last season, and this season it won it again. The occasion brought two new records for the team --- firstly, it won its first Wes Cup trophies back to back, and secondly, Liverpool won its first treble, adding a regional cup and the league trophy. 

Liverpool’s Wes Cup success is probably reflective of the strongest club in the world right now. It’s an all-star roster of 7m players, led by star striker Wendel (8.5m). Liverpool has taken the mantle from Bern, which was the dominant force in Wes Cups previously. 

The Wes Cup trophy was won in a final versus Beijing, a club left empty handed, trophyless this season. But in truth it was a one-sided final. Liverpool generated 10sogs and dominated possession. Beijing simply did not turn up for the final, ending a disappointing season. It would have taken a remarkable performance to defeat this Liverpool team, which defeated some major names on the run, including Pristina, Houston and Santiago. 

Rumors had spread that manager Oz was considering rebuilding the squad this off season, but the club did not receive any attractive offers. The same team will thus challenge for Wes Cup again next season --- perhaps a third Wes Cup trophy in a row?
