Legend Refsgaard Says Goodbye

Posted by: Newswire, 2017-01-14, 1213 Views

After 13 seasons, all of which were spent at Singapore, legendary forward Kasper Refsgaard waved an emotional goodbye to the fans at a recent press conference.

His career was both impressive, but tinged with a level of regret as he scored 170 goals, and provided 84 assists. During the early phase he regularly broke the 20 goal a season barrier, winning 4 division 1 crowns, 1 WES Cup, and 2 regional cups under the management of Bucky O Hare.

He spoke of his regret recently in his autobiography saying 'The early years of my career, working with Bucky was fantastic, but I regret not having the opportunity to move to a bigger club after he left. My goals, performance and opportunity to win silverware really dried up after he left'.

Still, the fans in Singapore will never forget and likely never replace such a fantastic servant to their club, who unveiled their plan to construct a statue of Refsgaard outside the stadium in 2017.

We spoke with Bucky O Hare, currently based in Antwerp on Refsgaards retirement, and he had the following to say:

'Reffy in my opinion was up there with a couple of other players as the best in the world during seasons 2-5. He was an all-round superstar with both the ability to grab the goals, set-up others, and work tirelessly to challenge opponents from the front. I would have loved to take him with me when I left, and I know speaking with him privately over the last few years that he felt he'd missed the chance to win more having stuck with Singapore for so long.'
