Pristina claims first D1 title after 30 seasons

Posted by: Newswire, 2025-02-01, 118 Views

Statistically, Pristina holds the most successful period of titles in Wes history. From S4 until S32, the club at least one trophy every season. That’s 28 seasons of non-stop winning back to back to back.

But this incredible winning streak took a toll on manager Ivo and he left the club in S33 to pursue personal activities. Eventually, he came back, took Beijing in RoW and made them a powerhouse, before eventually also taking Pristina as part of the franchise.

However, the Pristina rebuild has been slower, hampered by no trading. Still, the club had a fortunate run of free agents over the past decade of seasons and slowly the club grew its ambitions. And finally, for the first time since Ivo’s return more than 20 seasons ago, the club finally won the ES D1 title this season.

Timing is everything, and Pristina took advantage of two fading giants – Bern and Naples. These two have had an iron grip on the region, but their ageing teams felt the growing force of Pristina.

Star striker Urban scored 31 goals this season, flanked by strong 7.5m goalkeeper Haynes and a one of the strongest midfields in Wes, probably led by left winger Riihimaki, with 11 assists this season.

The squad is still relatively young and will likely dominate ES for the next few seasons. Bern is facing a rebuild and Naples is also looking at retirements at several key areas.

Is the Pristina era back? The rest of the Wes world will be fearful it is.
